On the first day of January, as it pleased God from whom everything proceeds, one force joined another, because on that day the noble fleet of the aforesaid Captain Carlo Zeno came, with 14 galleys, very well armed, and very rich because they had captured in the east a very large cog of the Genoese, which was called ‘La Bichignona’, and had been attacked and quickly plundered. Its treasure was beyond counting, many prisoners were made, and it was sailing to Syria. Now of the number of these galleys which had anchored at Pola, one of them was destroyed, although its crew escaped, and another of this same number {without its crew}, 1 being on guard against Brondolo, was caught by the enemy and with the help of winches 2 // f they dragged it ashore, the third galley of this same number was wrecked by a storm in a tempest at sea, without the loss of its crew, at a place called Magnavacca.
