Later in this year the aforesaid emperor of the Zagatai, called by name Timur Lenk, passed with all his army into the region of Turkey, and this was in order to come to grips with Bayazid, emperor of the Turks. At this Bayazid, hearing of the approach of Timur Lenk, put himself in order with all his people to come to battle against him, and gathered all his forces from Greece as well as Turkey, who were in number more than 300 thousand men, and he went against Timur Lenk. So both parties met, and there was a very great battle between them, and a slaughter of men, with the result that Bayazid was driven back and captured in person and taken into the presence of Timur Lenk, who inflicted great torture upon him and in the end put him to death in a miserable manner.
